PINECREEK TOWNSHIP – Punxsutawney-based state police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Sunday along Sulgar Road in Pinecreek Township, Jefferson County.
According to state police, around 1:50 p.m. a 64-year-old man was walking along Sulgar Road in Pinecreek Township when he observed a side-by-side utility vehicle traveling from one side of the road to the other.
The victim alleged that the two Caucasian males who were in the side-by-side were both in their mid to late 20’s and had medium-length brown hair. One of the males was reportedly wearing an orange shirt or jacket.
The side-by-side was an unknown make or model and was orange with a black hard-top roof and no doors.
State police say the victim told them that six or seven shots were fired by one of the occupants in the side-by-side. When the vehicle drove by, the victim allegedly heard approximately seven additional shots, as it continued down Sulgar Road toward Route 322.
The victim then realized his left hand had been shot. He drove to the hospital, and hospital personnel contacted state police, the report said. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
