Mary Lou Slagle, 75, of DuBois and formerly of Tampa, Fla., Phoenix, Ariz., and Brockway, died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.
Born Feb. 25, 1941 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Ann Kuniski and Jack Steffano.
After relocating to DuBois in 2001, she worked at St. Tobias Roman Catholic Church in Brockway, and St. Michael the Archangel in DuBois.
The live and silk floral arrangements she created for the altar throughout her life delighted her fellow parishioners at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. She loved animals, particularly Heidi, her beloved Chow.
She is survived by her sister, Helen Sette of DuBois; nephew, Robert Sette of Denver, Colo.; cousins, Catherine Farr and her husband, John of DuBois and Joseph Kuniski and his wife, Mary of Coppell, Texas; and her sons, Ken and Ron Lockwood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Slagle.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home Inc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Charles Kaza and Fr. Edward Walk as co-celebrants.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
