CLEARFIELD – October is National Chamber of Commerce Month and the Greater Clearfield Chamber of Commerce is reminding the people of Clearfield and the surrounding area what it is the chamber can do for them.
According to Chamber Director Kim McCullough, this is a time to recognize the contributions of local chambers to private sectors and communities. As part of that, the Clearfield Chamber is committed to forming partnerships drawing on the best of business, labor and education.
McCullough said local chambers are critical to the fulfillment of that goal as well as focusing on Pennsylvania’s economic growth. Residents may not always know what their local chamber is involved in, and this is a time for the chambers to reach out and remind people what they do, how they contribute to the community and in enhancing the quality of life.
McCullough said, “The Greater Clearfield Chamber of Commerce is proud to be associated with organizations making countless contributions advocating for the business community. She added the chamber is a well-respected organization in the commonwealth and is one of the largest as well.
“The chamber represents both companies and individuals and provides programs and services that encourage the development and continued growth of its members. The chamber also provides legislative advocacy and leadership in the community, both to ensure businesses have a voice in the issues impacting the business and local community.”
McCullough said they are dedicated to providing the best service year-round to their members.
As part of this, the chamber hosts a variety of events throughout the year. Recently they hosted the second-ever Wine by the Water festival at Buck’s Pizza. More than 200 people attended the event, which included seven wineries and numerous vendors. The event is proving to be quite popular and plans are already under way for fall of 2017.
Every month the chamber hosts after-hour events, announced in the newsletter and on the chamber Web site. For the Christmas holiday, the chamber holds a 50-50 drawing, Cash for Christmas, with the winner drawn Dec. 2 and the chamber will be participating in the wine walk this December. And plans are under way for the next Casino Night in April of 2017.
The chamber is always looking for new members and people to get involved in promoting business in the Clearfield community. All members are encouraged to get involved.
“We would love to have your expertise and be part of our team,” McCullough said. In addition to positions on the board, the chamber is always looking for volunteers to help with the many community events.
