Curwensville Man Injured in Single-vehicle Crash

PIKE TOWNSHIP – A Curwensville man suffered “unknown serious injuries” in a single-vehicle crash at approximately 2:35 a.m. Sunday on Bloomington Avenue Extension in Curwensville, Pike Township.

According to state police at Clearfield, Tyler M. Peters, 26, was entrapped in his Can-am Commander XT 1000 and extricated by members of the Curwensville Volunteer Fire Company.

He was subsequently transported by ambulance a short distance in order to be flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Altoona. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, state police said.

When the crash occurred, state police said Peters was traveling north on Bloomington Avenue Extension. He, for unknown reasons, lost control of his vehicle, which traveled off the roadway into a grassy ditch.

It traveled until impacting with a telephone pole with its driver’s side. Upon impact, it continued traveling with it coming to a rest three feet off the roadway.

State police are continuing their investigation into the crash at this time.
