Timothy John Sherick, 63, of Clearfield died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Sherick was born Jan. 8, 1953, the son of Robert Wells Sherick and Shirley Lou (Archible) Sherick.

He was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School in the class of 1971 and Edinboro University in the class of 1974 receiving a Bachelor of Science in education.

Mr. Sherick had been employed by Ebensburg State School in 1975, Cambridge Springs High School from 1976 to 1978, and the DuBois Area High School and Riverview Intermediate Unit from 1978 to 1994.

He was also a self-employed independent financial consultant and division manager with the broker dealer Financial Securities Corp., where he was licensed in 1981, holding a Series 6,7,24, 53 and 63.

He was a football and wrestling coach, president of the Riverview Education Association and county coordinator for Pennsylvania Special Olympics. He was named Young Educator of the Year by the DuBois Jaycees.

Mr. Sherick was a member of the Centre Grove United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Sheriff’s Posse and Van Kampen’s Generation Club, and he sat on the Putnam Golden Scale Council Board of Directors.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah K. (Patrick) Sherick, to whom he was married May 10, 1975; two daughters, Lea J. Peters of Lighthouse Point, Fla., and Lane J. Sherick of Clearfield; and two grandchildren, Chase M. and Gunner T. Foster, both of Clearfield.

He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, Robert W. Sherick of Arkansas, Rebecca S. Short and Frank C. Sherick, both of Clearfield, and Ann R. Siems of Hyde and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Carla R. Sherick.

Honoring Mr. Sherick’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Pennsylvania Special Olympics at its Web site specialolympicspa.org.
