CLEARFIELD – Clearly Ahead Development Chief Executive Officer Rob Swales recently presented a check in the amount of $6,974.24 to the Clearfield Soccer Association.
The staff of Clearly Ahead Development recently organized the second-ever Dwight “Skip” Koerber Memorial Golf Tournament and Steak Dinner benefit at the Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club.
The event’s theme was, “Paving the way for youth soccer.” Swales stated, “With the passing of our founding solicitor and dear friend in 2015, we created an event in his honor that would continue giving back to his life-long passion and commitment to youth soccer development in our community.
“Hundreds of local children directly benefit from the programs instilled at the soccer complex every season. We look forward to do our part to help with capital improvements at the complex for current and future families to enjoy for many generations to follow.”
The CSA is currently in a campaign to raise $160,000 in effort to match a recreational grant from DCNR. Improvements planned for the complex include: paving the access road to the complex, extending electric and sewer service to the field house, construction of a storage building, picnic pavilion and the development of additional playing fields.
CSA President Bob Aleksivich added, “Skip Koerber’s soccer legacy was far reaching in our community. Swales was aware from working closely with Skip and from his own involvement with the CSA, that we are in the critical stage of fundraising.
“The golf outing and dinner were well supported. The subsequent fundraising amount is of great importance to reach the $160,000 goal. The CSA board extends a huge thank you to the Clearly Ahead staff, and all those who sponsored and participated.”
The memorial tournaments have raised more than $20,000 in total for paving the access road. Utility and infrastructure improvements are scheduled to begin after this year’s fall soccer season. The access road will be paved immediately after the spring soccer season, upon completion of the utility work.
