David Daniel “Dave” Gallaher Jr., 72, of Clearfield died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital.
Born April 14, 1944, he was the son of David D. Sr. and Betty Jane (McCullough) Gallaher.
Mr. Gallaher had been employed by Kurtz Bros., as a pressman and printer and retired from there after 40 years of service.
He was a member of the Clearfield Borough Council and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of the Clearfield Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. No. 540, where he was named Man of the Year for 2008-09, the Clearfield American Legion Post 6, the Clearfield Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Clearfield Sons of Italy and the Central Mountain Chapter of AACA
On May 31, 1969 in Philipsburg, he wed the former Carolyn Gordon, who survives, along with two daughters, Cheryl Read and her husband, David and Kelly O’Connor, both of Clearfield.
Also surviving are a grandson, Corey Read and a granddaughter, Lillian O’Connor, both of Clearfield, as well as two brothers, Roger H. Gallaher and his wife, Gloria of Mineral Springs and Edward R. Gallaher and his wife, Margaret of Montoursville and numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gloria Materkowski.
Mr. Gallaher enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was an avid hunter, car enthusiast and a hard worker. He also enjoyed traveling and meeting new people everywhere he went and will be sadly missed by many.
A “Celebration of Life” Service for David Gallaher will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc.
Friends will be received from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Members of B.P.O.E. No. 540 will conduct Elk Lodge Memorial Services at 2:30 p.m., and military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
