Catherine E. “Betty” Brouse, 96, of Weedville died Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born July 10, 1920 in Kersey, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Bertha (Koch) Hawkins.
In 1941, she married Thomas R. Brouse. He preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1994.
She was a self-employed beautician in Weedville for more than 35 years.
Mrs. Brouse was a member of the Weedville United Methodist Church, where she had been active in Ladies’ Aid for many years.
She was also a member of the Bennetts Valley Senior Center. She enjoyed cooking, baking and being on the “go.” Most of all, she loved being with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Deb Mitchell and her husband, Ken of DuBois and two sons, Charles Brouse and his wife, Elaine of Weedville and Tom Brouse and his wife, Rita of Altoona.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, Julie Brouse of Washington D.C., Chad Brouse and his wife, Leslie of Cranberry Township, Dr. Tom Brouse and his wife, Katie of Altoona, Dr. John Brouse and his wife, Casey of Ebensburg and Elizabeth Drahushak and her husband, Bill and Kenny Mitchell and his wife, Ang, both of DuBois and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service at the Weedville United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Lola Turnbull officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
