RIDGWAY – Tickets sales are moving along briskly for this Saturday’s biggest ever “Ridgway Historic House Tour.”

Homeowners are sprucing up, dozens of volunteers are ready to welcome you and the Ridgway – Elk County Welcome Center – is ready to sell last minute tickets that day.

“This is a once-in-a lifetime extravaganza event”, shared the very enthusiastic tour organizer and Heritage Council board member Dale Fox.

“Tim Leathers and I founded the Ridgway Heritage Council in 1997, and this is our 20-year anniversary and I wanted to do something really special.

“The homes on tour provide a stellar showcase of Ridgway’s Hyde-Murphy craftsmanship. Once the homes doors open, it will be like visiting an open-air museum.

“If you haven’t bought a ticket yet – all I can say is ‘What are you waiting for? This is truly an opportunity of a lifetime’.”

The house tour begins on Saturday at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. For this “open house” style tour, participants receive a ticket along with a tour packet, which includes simple instructions, a map of the numbered homes and a brochure with photos and information on each home on tour.

You can visit all of the houses on the tour, when you wish and at your own pace. And, you are encouraged to “stop and shop” at the two businesses located within historic homes (South Street Botanic Designs and JoRae Quilt Shop) and visit the Elk County Historical Society.

“And don’t forget about the three lovely homes in the ‘West End’ on Montmorenci and Walnut streets – they are well worth the short trek,” Fox says.

Event proceeds are utilized by the non-profit Ridgway Heritage Council to enable all the preservation, beautification and economic development work the group performs for the beautiful community of Ridgway.
