Thomas J. Thacik, 78, of Curwensville died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital in Johnstown.
Born Dec. 22, 1937, he was the son of Gabriel and Elizabeth F. (Mayersky) Thacik.
Mr. Thacik had worked for the former Kent’s Sportswear in Curwensville. However, he was retired from the former Target Sportswear as the assistant plant manager.
He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War era. He was also a member of the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, the Curwensville American Legion Post 505 and the Old Town Sportsmen’s Association.
On June 28, 1963 in Curwensville, he wed the former Beverly Rachel (Philips) Maines, who preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 2012.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Kathryn M. Stricek and Barbara Tshudy. He was the last member of his generation.
Surviving are a son, Greg Thacik and his wife, Tracy Bell of Curwensville, three step-sons, Arthur Maines and his wife, Marlene of Franklin, Audie Maines of Greencastle and James Maines and his wife, Janet of Chambersburg as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville with the Rev. Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Burial will be in the Bloomington Cemetery of Curwensville.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and again from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday when the procession will depart for the church.
The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Timothy Altar and Rosary Society at 5:30 p.m. and a Scripture Vigil Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, both at the funeral home.
