Obituary Notice: John P. “Tinker” Petrosky

John P. “Tinker” Petrosky, 101, of DuBois died Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at Christ the King Manor.

Born March 10, 1915 in DuBois, he was the son of the late John and Victoria (Yuskalis) Petrosky.

In June of 1941, he married Rose M. (DeCarli) Petrosky.  She preceded him in death on May 18, 2002.

Mr. Petrosky retired from the Pennsylvania Power and Electric after more than 40 years of service as a coal miner.  Prior to that, he worked in the Cramer Mines until its closing in 1958.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.

He was the oldest member of the Oklahoma Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the former Lithuanian Independence Club and the United Mine Workers Association.

Mr. Petrosky enjoyed hunting, fishing and peeling copper wire.

Mr. Petrosky is survived by his son, Richard Petrosky and his wife, Janice of DuBois; his daughter, Mary Michaeline Shuman and her husband, Ben of West Hickory, Pa.; a sister, Valeria Veshinfsky and her husband, Charles of Indiana, Pa.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Petrosky; two sisters, Mary Petrosky and Nellie Henderson; and a brother, Michael Petrosky.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel at Christ the King Manor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Christ the King Manor with Msgr. Desmond McGee as celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family suggests that memorials be made to Christ the King Manor, 1100 W. Long Ave., DuBois, PA 15801.
