Clearfield County Life-long Learning Institute Announces Upcoming Classes

CLEARFIELD – Interested in learning something new? The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc., in collaboration with Lock Haven University Clearfield, announces two upcoming educational seminars offered through the Clearfield Community Life-long Learning Institute.

Courses are geared towards the interests of the baby boomers and older citizens.  Typical sessions will last approximately 90 minutes and will be taught primarily by Lock Haven University faculty and community individuals with specific expertise. All programs will be free or very low cost.

You can learn everything you should know about your garden by joining Cheryl Shenkle, coordinator for the Jefferson County Master Gardeners, at Lock Haven University on Tuesday, Sept. 20, “Your Garden from Seed to Cellar.”

Topics discussed will include choosing planting dates, when to harvest, how to avoid inedible vegetables, and linking one end of the growing season to another successfully.

As well, you can come and explore the many facets of yoga with Janet Sullivan, certified yoga instructor, on Tuesday, Oct. 4. They say “Bodies in motion tend to stay in motion.” You will find out how chair yoga can help with the adverse effects from diseases such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, lymes, and other challenges.  Yoga can be adapted in many ways to fit many bodies; the only prerequisite is that you can breathe.

Both seminars will be held on their scheduled date from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. The seminars are offered at no charge, but pre-registration is required. Register by calling the CCAAA at 814-765-2696.

The Clearfield County Life-long Learning Institute has seminars scheduled through December and is diligently working on classes to offer in the spring. Programs and services of the agency are funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc., Mature Resources Foundation, and local and consumer contributions.
