DUBOIS – Members of the Elk County Toastmasters Club are pleased to announce their assistance with trying to revive the DuBois Toastmasters International Club.
According to Elk County Toastmasters President Dale Fox, plans are under way to reach out to the greater DuBois community to reestablish the DuBois club, which petered out a number of years ago.
The Toastmasters Club is an international non-profit organization with more than 330,000 members around the world that focus on training the leaders of tomorrow.
While known primarily for its emphasis on public speaking skills, that is only one area of focus for Toastmasters.
“When it comes to true leadership, learning to be a better listener is equally vital to success, as well as mastering time management and delegation skills – all emphasized by Toastmasters”, shared Fox.
“Toastmasters just can’t be beat for the value they deliver at a minimal cost. One reason that Toastmasters training is so effective is the regular opportunity to practice.”
“I am always astonished to see how individuals are transformed by the completion of their initial 10-speech certification as a Competent Communicator,” Fox added.
Due to the growth that Elk County Toastmasters Club has experienced, they decided to reach out to provide this great opportunity to the DuBois region.
While Toastmasters clubs can be found throughout Pennsylvania, there is a huge gap in the rural PA Wilds region, according to Fox.
Filling this hole, she said, will assist in the region’s economic development. She commented that: “Toastmasters isn’t just about personal success in the corporate world.
“Everyone has causes they care about, and Toastmasters provides the firm foundation to make a difference and achieve your dreams.”
Fox recently spoke at the DuBois Rotary Club as the first step in reaching out to the community.
“Right now, we are assessing interest and plan to hold a demonstration meeting in DuBois in the near future,” she said.
“Members of the public are always welcome to visit Elk County Toastmasters in St. Marys on the first and third Thursdays each month at the Shiloh Presbyterian Church education center at 7:15 p.m.”
The facility is handicapped accessible. Contact information is available online at www.elkcounty.toastmastersclub.org.
