CLEARFIELD – Property owners in Lawrence Township were reminded they notify and obtain a permit from the township before having any timbering done on their property.
During last night’s meeting, Code Enforcement Officer Debra Finkbeiner noted property owners face fines for not getting a permit and there are also public safety issues. Companies timbering on state land still need to acquire a township permit.
Finkbeiner also noted that the county burn ban has been lifted; however, residents should continue to use caution as the rain has not soaked sufficiently into the ground to deter wildfires. Brush and other yard debris should be taken to the compost site, she said.
A timbering operation was approved on Mount Joy Road by Pinchy Services. Because the area where the trucks will be entering and exiting the property is near bus stops, the supervisors approved a recommendation by the planning commission to restrict the hours when the trucks can haul timber to the hours between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Tree trimming along electrical lines will take place in the Firetower Road area, beginning at the end of the month with a time limit of 30 days. Property owners will be notified, as well.
The board approved requesting proposals for tree trimming along Riverview Road then down Coal Hill Road to the township/borough line and also on Coal Hill Road near the armory.
Three public hearings were set by the supervisors. The first is for a liquor license transfer request and will be held Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Then, two Community Development Block Grant hearings will be held, the first on Sept. 6 at 6:45 p.m. and the second on Oct. 18 at 6:45 p.m.
