ExploreJefferson: Car Crashes into Tree in Union Township

UNION TOWNSHIP (EYT) – DuBois-based state police say a one-car crash occurred Saturday, along Home Camp Road in Union Township, Clearfield County.

According to state police, around 8:12 p.m., 18-year-old Tyler J. Burkey of Ridgway was traveling north on Home Camp Road when he veered onto the east side berm and came into contact with loose gravel.

State police say Burkey lost control of the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt and slid off the east side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree before coming to a final stop along the east side of the roadway.

Burkey and a passenger – 18-year-old Kierre A. Dugger, also of Ridgway – were not wearing seatbelts. Another passenger – 22-year-old Nephew A. Hendricks of Wilmington, NC – was wearing a seatbelt.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Burkey was charged with a traffic violation, according to state police.
