The feature-length film Blood on the Leaves, produced by Sideline Pictures, wrapped on principal photography over a period of two weeks in various locations across northcentral Pennsylvania and Philadelphia in October of 2015.
“The production featured a dedicated and professional cast, half-dozen key crew personnel, and a modest budget,” stated Ryan Haggerty, production, marketing and distribution rep for the film.
The story centers on an urban youth who is grappling with the sins of his past, as he buries a body far from the city near an old Pennsylvania logging plot.
In the midst of digging a shallow grave, a tree falls, injuring him and pinning him to the ground. A nearby bow hunter, startled, drops his bow and runs towards the sound of the fallen tree.
The hunter is unable to move the tree or free the city boy. Just as he is leaving to find help, he stumbles across the tarp-covered body.
The city boy pulls a gun on the hunter. Locked in a standoff, they find themselves alone in the middle of the wilderness.
“Along with a talented crew and cast, Blood on the Leaves makes its mark by delivering a socially impactful story that is relevant to urban and rural cross sections of American society,” says Haggerty in a press release.
“This point is driven home by the crew, producers, and cast whose hometowns represent urban and rural areas in the American Northeast, Southeast and Midwest.”
The film began its theatrical roadshow in June. Screenings will culminate with an August screening at the Ritz Theater and September screening in Pittsburgh (TBD).

The film will screen at 4 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Ritz Theater as part of the Clearfield Art on the River Today festival.
Tickets may be purchased at the Ritz Theater box office during the art festival, which runs from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
