CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Council held a short committee meeting last night and discussed several items for next week’s voting meeting.
It was noted that two borough firefighters are currently out west assisting with fighting wild fires. Kim Kaschalk and Todd Kling are expected to return in the next few days.
The police department received a drop-off box for drug take-back and is working on following the regulations to set the box up for the public to drop off unwanted prescription drugs.
It was noted that work is progressing on the Stinky Run project and that the borough crew recently assisted with work on elevation.
The next step is to complete right-of-way drawings and have them approved by the state Department of Environmental Protection before the borough then moves on to getting easements.
Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott noted that the borough is watching inlets and runs during the current storm events to ensure there is not another flood.
The personnel committee voted to recommend approval of Alex Burkett as a permanent full-time police officer. Burkett has successfully completed his probation period.
Next week the council will open bids for trash collection and heating fuel.
