Fugitive of the Week Surrenders

Billie Jo DickeyCLEARFIELD – A wanted fugitive has voluntarily surrendered, according to Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr.

Shaw identified the fugitive as Billie Jo Dickey, 48, of Spot Road, DuBois. Dickey was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list Monday.

On May 12, 2016, Officer Erik Rupp of the Sandy Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint in which he charged Dickey with retail theft, F3; receiving stolen property, M2; and defiant trespass, M3.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on May 9 police received a report about a theft at a local business. Upon arrival officers met with store personnel who identified the suspect as Dickey. She had previously received a notice of restriction from the property due to a prior incident.

Store personnel told police that Dickey was observed attempting to remove numerous items from the store. When confronted, Dickey admitted to attempting to remove the merchandise from the store.

A preliminary hearing was held June 17, at which all charges were held to court. On July 26 Dickey failed to appear at Sentencing Court, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

According to Shaw, on Wednesday Dickey voluntarily surrendered herself to deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. He thanked the sheriff’s office for its assistance with this case.
