The deaths of reality TV star Toya Wright’s two brothers have led to a flood of condolences on social media.
Ryan “Rudy” Johnson and Josh Johnson were fatally shot shortly after midnight Saturday in New Orleans.
New Orleans police told CNN they were called to an area just north of the French Quarter and found two males with multiple gunshot wounds inside a car. The pair died at the scene, police said.
Investigators said they have not determined a motive for the killings.
Wright, who is the ex-wife of rapper Lil Wayne, appeared on two BET series, “Tiny & Toya” and “Toya: A Family Affair.”
On Sunday, Wright shared a photo of her slain brothers with the caption “Help me Lord. I will never understand this. #stoptheviolence #ineverfeltpainlikethisbefore #riptomybrothers #icantbelievethis #prayformyfamily.”
Several fans and celebrities reached out to Wright via social media. Her former co-star, Tameka “Tiny” Harris and her husband, rapper T.I. Harris tweeted “RIP bros. For us to really have an argument in the BLM movement WE MUST show that Black Lives Matter to Us!!!!! We All WE GOT!!!! My family’s condolences.”
The tragedy even elicited a response from Wright’s former rival, singer K. Michelle. The two women had long feuded over issues with Wright’s estranged husband, Mickey “Memphitz” Wright, who K. Michelle used to date. (The couple is currently featured on WE tv’s “Marriage Bootcamp.”)
“Nobody deserves that type of pain. We may never be best friend but U are my sister in Christ. I pray for u and your whole family,” K. Michelle tweeted.
Wright has an extended family of siblings. Many of them were featured on her former series, “Toya: A Family Affair.”
In 2011, the New Orleans native talked about her close family in a promo for the show.
“You will see how family oriented I am,” she said. “How much I really love my family, and how much I do in my power just to keep us together as a family.”
