Thursday, Aug. 11
Explore Archery
10 a.m. – Environmental Education Classroom
Have you always wanted to learn to shoot a bow and arrow? Come and learn the basics of archery, along with range rules and safety procedures. Bows have a 15 to 25 pound pull; smaller archers may have difficulty.
Friday, Aug. 12
Trail of New Giants
10 a.m. – CCC Museum
Hike a trail that meanders through an area once ravaged by a natural disaster. Witness the forest’s ability to recover after such an event. We’ll head to the Vista; don’t forget your camera for shots from the park’s highest point. Please wear appropriate footwear.
Saturday, Aug. 13
Habitats at Home with Guest – Makayla Whaling
11 a.m. – Environmental Education Classroom
Wildlife needs food, water, and a safe home. Learn fun and easy ways to improve your backyard habitat. Planting a garden is a great way to improve wildlife habitats, so native plants will be discussed. There will be crafts, activities, and useful handouts.
Sand Satellite Sculpting
3 p.m. – Beach
Help create a satellite in the sand and learn about how to find them in the night sky. The Perseid Meteor Shower will also be discussed. All ages welcome.
Perseid Meteor Shower Watch/ISS Watch
9 p.m. – Beach House
Bring your blankets or reclining chairs to get comfortable to watch for the Perseid Meteor Shower. The International Space Station (ISS) should also be making an appearance around 9:35 PM. If the sky is clear, then we should have some entertainment.
