Richard L. ‘Dick’ Kovalick, 72, of Woodland died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his home.
He was born April 8, 1944 in Bald Hill, a son of the late Michael J. and Dorothy M. (Stiner) Kovalick.
He and his brothers owned and operated Kovalick Lumber where he served as chief executive officer.
Growing up, Mr. Kovalick was a boy scout and also a graduate of Clearfield High School.
During high school, he served as president of Student Council his senior year and was a member of the wrestling team. He also farmed all of his life.
He was Christian by faith and had served with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Linda L. (Wilson) Kovalick, to whom he was wed Nov. 28, 1964 in Woodland, and two children, Jenni R. Lazauskas and her husband, Rob of Woodland and Justin M. Kovalick and his wife, Ayren of Shawville.
He is survived by seven grandchildren, Ryan, Karsen and Jordyn Lazauskas and Nicholas, Hayden, Aster and June Kovalick; two sisters, Barbara Courter and her husband, Ron and Debbie Helms and her husband, Merle, both of Michigan; and three brothers, Lonnie Kovalick and his wife, Helen of Karthaus, Don Kovalick and his wife, Verlee of Delaware and Michael Kovalick of Lockport, NY.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bigler YMCA with the Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard and the Rev. Claire Pannebaker officiating.
Military honors will be accorded at Bigler YMCA by the members of the Clearfield VFW and American Legion Honor Guard.
Friends will be from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bigler YMCA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to Bigler YMCA, 61 Walker Rd., Bigler, PA 16825 or to the 4-H and FFA Jr. Livestock Club Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 104, Clearfield, PA 16830.
