Bridge Replacement Project Completes in Clearfield County

Route 53 (Morrisdale Allport Highway) over Emigh Run Opened to Traffic.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP – The Public-Private Partnership (P3) project to rebuild 558 bridges all across Pennsylvania completed a bridge in Clearfield County today, as the Route 53 (Morrisdale Allport Highway) Bridge over Emigh Run in Morris Township opened to traffic.

The bridge construction began in the beginning of July with traffic being detoured for two weeks, and reopened Tuesday July 19. The work was performed by Clearwater Construction of Mercer. The new crossing is longer and wider than the one it replaced and is designed with a 100 year life span.

Motorists will encounter a shoulder closure after the road is opened to traffic to complete the remainder of the construction activities.

The bridge replacements are part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a Public-Private Partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP) under which PWKP will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years. As part of PWKP, Walsh/Granite JV will oversee construction. The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.
