Hillary Clinton will meet with Senate Democrats at a policy luncheon Thursday on Capitol Hill, a Democratic source told CNN, part of her efforts to coalesce party support around her campaign.
The visit comes on the heels of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ endorsement on Tuesday in New Hampshire, and two weeks before she is expected to accept the party’s presidential nomination in Philadelphia.
The meeting also is likely Clinton’s last chance to hold court with Democratic leaders in Washington before they recess for the summer. And it will take place days before the Republican convention opens to officially nominate presumptive nominee Donald Trump.
“We’re going to hear from Hillary Clinton — the obligations that we have as senators to carry forward on a program that is not dominated by Trump,” said Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, of Nevada. “So I think that we’re going to be enthusiastic in our support for Hillary Clinton as we should be.”
Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, widely considered to be among the favorites to be Clinton’s running mate, and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who has emerged as one of her most vocal allies, are among the 46-member Democratic Senate caucus.
