Lindsey Vonn wants to start a family but says she needs to find a guy first.
Vonn, 31, is considered to be one of the best skiers in the world, having won one gold and two bronze medals in the 2010 Winter Olympics and four World Cup overall titles. She’s arguably one of the most eligible female athletes in the world, but she says even she has a hard time landing a date.
“I would love to be a mom. I just don’t know … I kind of need a guy first,” Vonn told CNN, while promoting her new Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups ad. “[Dating is] tough. Most of the time the normal guys are too intimidated and the guys that have enough confidence, have too much confidence. It’s really hard, I haven’t navigated my way very well.”
Vonn, who dated professional golfer Tiger Woods from 2013 to 2015, says that she definitely knows what she’s looking for in a partner. “I want someone that is self confident, but doesn’t have a huge ego. Someone who supports everything I do and doesn’t hold me back. Someone who encourages me to do what I want to do and what’s good for me and my skiing and my life.”
She also joked that although she’s one of five kids, whoever she ends up with has to win her dad over first! “Getting along with my dad is the biggest challenge. Oh, and must be a dog lover. If not, it’s a no go.”
Vonn, who told CNN that she’s prepping for the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, says that the main reason she’s not heading to Rio to watch the Summer Olympics is because she’s afraid of Zika. “I am not going, i have so much training going on and I’m a little bit nervous about Zika. I’ll be watching from my couch. I’m looking forward to tennis, gymnastics, swimming, my friends like Missy (Franklin). I’m going to watch her.”
