50 Cent, always the optimist. The rapper was arrested on Saturday, after performing his 2003 hit “P.I.M.P.” at the St. Kitts Music Festival. The rapper was booked following his expletive-filled performance because the use of public profanities is illegal there.
But 50 Cent’s camp is adamant that he never intended to perform and that it was a last minute request from the organizers of the festival. “[Curtis “50 Cent”] Jackson was only booked to host the show, when he arrived at the festival organizers asked him to perform, he obliged and used the DJ they had there,” 50 Cent’s camp said in a statement to CNN. “Unfortunately, they didn’t have the clean version to his tracks, so there were profanities used during his performance. The show was a great success and he will make sure for future trips to St. Kitts that he leaves the ‘motherf–ks’ in the United States.”
“P.I.M.P.” has 31 profanities in the four minute song. One concert-goer caught part of his performance as he sang along to the pre-recorded track and posted it to Instagram.
50 Cent made light of the arrest the following day, with a picture of him in jail with the caption: “What you in 4 MURDER? all I said was motherf**ker. LMAO.”
The 40-year-old rapper posted bail in the amount of $1,800 and headed back to the United States Sunday morning.
