Edward Watson Jr., 79, of DuBois died Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his home. Born Sept. 19, 1936, he was the son of the late Edward Watson Sr. and Anna Rose (Ogershok) Watson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired in 1994 as a meter reader for Penelec after 33 years of service.
Mr. Watson was a former Sandy Township Supervisor who served for 20 years.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was an active member of the DuBois Oklahoma Athletic Association and the DuBois Area Historical Society. He enjoyed playing basketball.
On Nov. 26, 1958, he married Jerolyn “Jerry” Gifford. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, George “Ed” Watson and his wife, Kim of El Dorado, Kan., Michael Watson and his wife, Beth of Cape Coral, Fla., and Randy Watson of DuBois, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Truitt and a great-granddaughter, Cailyn Watson.
There will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor John Miller officiating.
