CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Area United Way recently delivered nearly 300 books as part of its Reading Ripples Project for children at the Clearfield County Housing Authority for a summer reading initiative.
This makes more than 4,500 books delivered through the program. “We can all remember our favorite childhood books, and the way they could fire your imagination,” explained CAUW President Debbie Bowser.
“Reading aloud is the single most important thing you can do to help prepare a child for reading and learning. And, this is one more way to get books into the hands of children and to inspire a love of reading.”
Gently-used books are collected for “Reading Ripples,” coordinated, processed and then distributed. Those at the United Way are always collecting gently-used children’s books for the program.
“If an individual or a group of employees would like to do a collection, we will be more than happy to deliver those to children’s groups,” Nancy Pinto of the CAUW, explained.
