Obituary Notice: Dennis D. Tubbs

Dennis D. Tubbs, 73, of Chestnut Grove, Pa., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the DuBois Nursing Home after a long illness.

He was born July 10, 1942 in Clearfield, the son of the late Victor and Delevene (Anderson)Tubbs.

On July 20, 1963, he married Helen Kessler.  She survives and lives in Chestnut Grove.  They were married 53 years.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965 as a crew chief on a C47.  After leaving the Air Force, he worked for Rockwell Manufacturing, and then he worked as a draftsman at Brockway Glass.

He taught drafting and design at DuBois Area High School for two years and 16 years for the Clearfield County Vo-Tech.

He worked at Rockwell Manufacturing again as an engineer until it left DuBois.  After that, he was self-employed as an electrician until his illness.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in DuBois.  He especially loved singing in the men’s choir and attending Pastor Matt’s Bible Class for the seventh and eighth graders at DuBois Christian Schools.

He loved interacting with the students and listening to their Bible verses.  He loved the Lord and his desire was to be a witness to those he came in contact with.

He loved spending time with his family, especially attending activities his grandchildren were involved in.

In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by his son, Dennis D. Tubbs II of DuBois; his daughter, Sherry Amitrone and her husband, James of Washington, Pa.; three grandchildren, Jared Tubbs of DuBois, Madyson Amitrone of Washington, Pa., and Michaela Tubbs of DuBois; and two nieces, Melissa Houston and Barbara Tubbs.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Tubbs and his grandparents, George and Hazel Anderson and Singleton and Elizabeth Tubbs.  He was the last member of his immediate family.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Montgomery officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded from the church by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.

Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
