BEECH CREEK — Undefeated Beech Creek got three-hit pitching from Ethan Watkins and scored in all five innings for a 10-0 win over Clearfield in Central Penn American Legion League action Thursday evening.
Watkins struck out eight and walked two in whitewashing the Chiefs.
Losing pitcher Justin Fedder surrendered nine hits and eight runs in three-plus innings, departing after the defending champion Crickets (6-0) began the lower fourth with two hits and then received two walks.
Wyatt Porter gave up a walk and a hit before escaping the jam, thanks to a double play, and Josh Sorbera relieved in the fifth when the Crickets pushed their hit total to 13 and scored two runs, one unearned.
Watkins, Connor Bauman and Evan Prough had pairs of hits for Beech Creek.
The Chiefs (1-3) will be back in action Friday evening against DuBois at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field.
