Traffic delays expected as beams travel to work site
SHAWVILLE – Beams will be set Monday and Tuesday, June 20-21 on Route 879 in Goshen Township as the Trout Run bridge replacement job continues in the village of Shawville.
Drivers travelling through the Shawville area should expect travel delays on Monday and Tuesday as beams are delivered to the job site. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) began work in early April to replace the old bridge, which will allow PennDOT to remove it from Clearfield County’s structurally deficient list.
On Monday and Tuesday, three 59-foot beams and six 73-foot beams will be delivered to the project, coming through the greater Clearfield area on Route 970 and Route 879.
Traffic at the job site on Route 879 in Shawville will be controlled by flaggers while the beams are being delivered and set. Motorists should be prepared for travel delays up to 15 minutes.
Once the beams are in place, traffic movement at the bridge will return to an alternating traffic pattern controlled by temporary signals.
Overall work includes replacement of the bridge, new concrete decking, paving, guide rail installation and miscellaneous items. Work is expected to last until March of 2017. All work is weather and schedule dependent. Francis J. Palo Inc. of Clarion is the contractor on this $2.5 million project.
Drivers are reminded to move through work zones with caution, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
