Irene R. Bader, 94, of DuBois died Monday, June 13, 2016 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born July 14, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Leona (Devine) Thunberg.
She worked at Mader’s Confectionary in DuBois where she met the love of her life, William A. Bader.
On Aug. 23, 1940, they married. After 54 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1994.
She worked at Wilson’s Bakery and then Riverside Market for 24 years as a cake decorator. She also taught cake decorating at Jeff Tech.
She was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
She enjoyed bowling, crafts, sewing and working with her hands. She also enjoyed helping her husband in many Knights of Columbus activities.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Shaffer and her husband, Bill of DuBois; one granddaughter, Diane Brunetti and her husband, Todd of DuBois; five great-grandchildren, Noah and Erik Shaffer and Patrick, Alyssa and Maggie Heath.
She was preceded in death by her son, William A. Bader Jr., her grandson, William Shaffer Jr., and two sisters, her twin, Eileen Harris and Carol Statesman.
There will be visitation from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Walk as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
