CLEARFIELD – The Diana L. Smith Memorial River Walk is in the works to support those affected by the severe flooding in Clearfield.

It will take place the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, June 25-26. It will start at the gazebo in Lower Witmer Park.

Tickets will be sold at the gazebo for $5 each both Saturday from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Participants will provide their phone number on their ticket for prize drawings to take place at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Organizer Marven Smith says it’s a memorial in honor of his wife, and he will give the first, four winners each a cash prize of $50.

The remainder of the prizes will be awarded later. A complete list of prizes will be available at a later date, he says.

The river walk will start at Lower Witmer Park; go down the east side of the river to the Nichols Street Bridge; cross the bridge to continue up the west side to the Raftsman Memorial Park; and end at the Market Street Bridge.

If anyone is unable to, it is OK if they do not complete the full river walk, Smith says.

Also, he notes donations can be made prior to the weekend of the river walk at area churches, businesses and the Clearfield Borough office. Tickets for the walk will also be available there, as well.

“Donations from surrounding communities would be a blessing. We will have people with donation containers at the Bloom and Berry Bash and a ticket table for anyone who would like to walk,” Smith says. “Let’s open our hearts.”

All money and distribution will be through the Clearfield Ministerial, and donations can be sent to: 111 N. Second St., Clearfield, PA 16830.

Please indicate that the donation is for the Diana L. Smith Flood Memorial. Any checks should be made to the Clearfield Ministerial.

Anyone who is interested in donating a prize or who needs more information is asked to contact Smith at 814-765-7705.
