Bridge to be replaced as part of Public-Private Partnership
It is currently weight-limit posted to carry 34-tons for single vehicles and 40 tons for combination vehicles. Replacing the bridge will eliminate the weight posting, provide motorists with a new, modern structure and allow PennDOT to remove it from Clearfield County’s structurally deficient list.
The Route 2007 (Blue Ball Road) bridge (JV44) spans Laurel Run near the village of West Decatur. The bridge is expected to close during the week of June 20.
A detour will be in effect, with drivers using Route 2024 (Old Erie Pike), Route 2051 (Salem Road), SR 2034 (Link Road), a small section of Route 2029 (Wallaceton Road), and U.S. 322.
Final completion of the bridge is expected in August of this year. The existing 27-foot bridge carries an average of more than 1,400 vehicles each day.
This bridge replacement is part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a Public-Private Partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP) under which PWKP will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years.
The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.
