Eva J. Ferguson, 84, of Clearfield died Sunday, June 12, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Ferguson was born Nov. 15, 1931 in Clearfield, the daughter of Hugh A. and Avanelle (Mayhew) Lawhead.

She was a life-long, active member of the Centre Grove United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Ferguson was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a life-long golfer and bowler.

She is survived by four children, Dr. Greg Ferguson and his wife, Lynell of Pooler, Ga., Jo Ellen Peteuil and her husband, Jeff of Clearfield, David E. Ferguson and his wife, Maryellen of South Carolina and Mike Ferguson and his wife, Darcey of Wexford.

She is survived by 10 grandchildren, Christopher Peteuil and his wife, Heather, Daniel Peteuil, Marcy Obleman and her husband, Justin, Maureen Ferguson and her fiancé, Sean McGraw, Elliott and Bryce Ferguson, Matthew Ferguson and his wife, Suzannah, Jessica Ferguson and Gregg and Nick Ferguson.

She is survived by six great-grandchildren, Sydney, Olivia, Dana, Helaina and Eli Peteuil and Braylon Obleman; a sister, Jean Herald of West Chester; a brother, Arthur Lawhead of Meadville; an aunt, Esther (Mayhew) Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews; her best friend, Rosemary Ickes; a special cousin, Nick Mayhew; and a brother-in-law, James Walker.

Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, David R. Ferguson, who died July 1, 1995 and to whom she was married Nov. 25, 1951.

She was also preceded in death by her uncle, the Rev. Stratford Taylor; a sister, Phyllis Walker; three brothers, Hugh Lawhead Jr., Nathan Paul Lawhead and Dudley Lawhead; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane (Lee) Ferguson; a brother-in-law, Brice Ferguson; and her mother and father-in-law, David and Ellen Ferguson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with the Rev. Dr. Randy Willis officiating. Burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
