Joan W. Denochick, 82, of Clearfield died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Knickerbocker Villa Senior Living.

Mrs. Denochick was born May 26, 1934 at Shawville, the daughter of Clarence D. and Anna (White) Coon.

She was a graduate of the Clearfield Area High School and the Institute of Computer Management.

Mrs. Denochick had been employed by Wal-Mart in data entry billing, Clearfield Lincoln Mercury for 13 years as a business manager and Truck Stops of America for seven years.

She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Clearfield and sang in the choir.

She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 379, where she served as organist; a past member of the BPW; and a volunteer for Hope for Victims of Domestic Violence.

Mrs. Denochick was an accomplished musician and vocalist.

She is survived by a daughter, Robin (Schnars) Sassic and her husband, Stanley of Champion Gate, Fla.; a step-son, Stephen J. Denochick of New York; four grandchildren, Angela, Alisa and Dustin Sassic, all of Florida, and Grant S. Denochick; three great-grandchildren, Courtney King of Garmisch, Germany and Briella and Aliviana Sassic of Florida; a sister, Buanna Cardinale of Warren, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She  was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steve Denochick, who died Feb. 20, 2005 and to whom she was married Nov. 20, 1970; a son, Brad L Schnars; five brothers, Archie, Kenneth, Glenn, Ross and Nile Coon; and a granddaughter, Joyce Ann Denochick.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with Pastor Mark Brower officiating. Burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
