Sandy Supers OK Liquor License Transfer to Applebee’s

DUBOIS – The Sandy Township Supervisors approved the transfer of a Ramey Borough liquor license for use at a new Applebee’s Grill & Bar. The restaurant will be part of a chain of stores being built along DuBois Avenue.

Patrick Eulberg and attorney Paul Namey attended Monday night’s supervisors’ meeting to represent Apple Pennsylvania LLC, the owner and operator of this Applebee’s Franchise.

Apple Pennsylvania is a subsidy of Apple American Group, which directly and indirectly oversees more than 400 Applebee’s restaurants.  During the public meeting, they detailed plans for the restaurant.

According to them, its closing time will depend upon how busy the restaurant stays during the later hours. However, closing time is expected to be between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m. through the week and no later than 1 a.m. on the weekends.

There will be around 190 customer seats available.  A concrete number was not available due to the floor plans not being finalized, they told the supervisors.  Also, they said that there will not be any live music.

There will be 85 employees who will be required to complete “Responsible Service of Alcohol” training.  Alcohol sales, maintained in the restaurant only, usually make up 17 percent of the sales at an Applebee’s, they said.

Township Manager Dave Monella was given approval to look into an agreement to allow DuBois City to sell water to Falls Creek by using Sandy Township’s pipes for transmission.

Monella also indicated that he had been notified by DuBois City about a potential water rate hike.

It was noted that the Camp Mountain Run Bridge has been installed but not completed. Paving is expected to be completed by week’s end, and bids are being sent out for guiderails.
