Obituary Notice: Josephine Rachel McCracken

Josephine Rachel McCracken, 83, of Clearfield died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.

She was born June 17, 1932 in Flinton, a daughter of the late Melvin and Minnie (Mays) Hockenberry.

Mrs. McCracken enjoyed canning vegetables and cooking and baking for family and friends. She also took pride in raising her children and had attended the Cherry Corner Bible Church.

She is survived by four children, Elma Rougeux and Keith, Sharon Stiles and her husband, Jim and Joann Quade and her husband, Dennis, all of Clearfield, and John M. McCracken and his wife, Gail of Curwensville.

She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Joann McCracken; 10 grandchildren, Philip Rougeux, Jason McCracken, Gina Heichel, Beth Ann Shaffer, Elmie Johns, James Stiles, Todd Stiles, Steven Rougeux, Travis McCracken and Jennifer Martell; three step-grandsons, Mark, Brian and Bradley Spaid; several great-grandchildren; and a sister Millie Ann Rowles of Glen Richey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee McCracken, on Dec. 24, 1994; her son, David McCracken; a grandson, J.R. Quade; three sisters, twin Pauline, Bertie and Irene; and five brothers, Billy, Buck, Toots, Clifford and Tommy.

All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Pre-School, 119 N. Second St., Clearfield.
