Spring Tree Planting Takes Place at Gas-Disturbed Sites at Elk State Forest

The staff members at the Elk State Forest prepared tree planting plans for areas that were cleared for pipeline rights of way, road reclamation and gas well pad reclamation all in Jones Township Elk County.

The following sites were contract planted: 493 White Spruce trees, 318 White Pine trees, 318 Red Pine trees planted in the pipeline corridor.

These plantings were developed for 90 Red Maple trees, 30 White Pine trees and 50 White spruce trees planted in the well road access project along with lime, fertilizer and a mix of grass seed.

Also, 150 Red Maple, 100 White Pine and 50 Red Oak were planted in the Ermily Road Reclamation project along with lime, fertilizer and a mix of grass seed.

Lastly, 60 Red Oak trees in tubes, 50 Hawthorn trees in tubes and 80 white pines trees, along with lime, fertilizer and a mix of grass seed were planted in the well pad reclamation site.
