Obituary Notice: Joan “Joann” Louise (Little) Ford

Joan “Joann” Louise (Little) Ford of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and formerly of Grassflat, was born March 26, 1931.

She was one of 13 siblings and the second oldest child born to the late Cyril and Catherine (Rothrock) Little.

She passed from this world at West Palm Beach, Fla., to a new life on Oct. 24, 2015 where she joined her late husband, Alan Ford.

On Dec. 5, 2015, she was joined there by her son, Victor Ziembo Jr., of Loxahatchee, Fla., as well.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Shirley (Ziembo) Liebman of Claremont, Okla.; two granddaughters, Jennifer Ziembo (Andrew) Belinsky of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Joannie Atkins of Jackson, Miss.; and two great-grandchildren, Geniva and Jeremiah Belinsky of Daytona Beach, Fla.

She is survived by six sisters and brother, Catherine (Filson) Cartwright of Frenchville, Carol (Dan) Schwark of Florida, Frances (Ron) Carll of New York, Rosalind (Durvin) Wick and Susan (Gary) Croyle, both of Morrisdale R.D., and Carmella (Ed) Fetters of Dubois; one brother, Cyril (Nancy) Little Jr. of Tyrone; and a sister-in-law, Carol Little.

In addition to her husband, Alan Ford and her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Eleanor Cowder, Lillian Dobo, Helen Ann Nadzom, Donna Protulipac and Michael Little. Her dogs, Patches and Pooh, which she loved, also preceded her in death.

Her hobbies included sewing, needlepoint and baking, which she loved doing. She was reputed to make a key lime pie that couldn’t be duplicated anywhere.

Her granddaughter, Jennifer Ziembo Belinsky credits her grandmother for teaching her how to do hand sewing and needlepoint.

One of her favorite days each year was Thanksgiving Day and if you went to her home that day, you could be sure to be able to watch one of her favorite events, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, as she always had that on the TV that day!

She was also a huge fan of college football, following faithfully her favorite team, the Florida ‘Gators! She also kept track of all the players and coaches, especially her favorite coach, Steve Spurrier.

On Sunday the 9 a.m. Mass at St. Severin Catholic Church in Drifting will be dedicated to the memory of Joan (Little) Ford by family and friends.
