Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said he would “absolutely” listen to Hillary Clinton if she discussed the possibility of him joining her ticket as her running mate.
“You’ve said that you would love to be Clinton’s running mate as long as you were allowed to throw bombs at (Donald) Trump. If she really did come to you, would you listen?” NBC’s Chuck Todd asked Cuban on “Meet the Press.”
“Absolutely. But the key would be she would have to go more to center,” Cuban said in the interview, a portion of which was released on Friday. “I like the fact that Sen. Clinton has thought out proposals. That’s a good thing, because at least we get to see where she stands. But I think Sen. (Bernie) Sanders has dragged her a little bit too far to the left.”
Cuban specifically cited policies on business and higher education that he said could harm the economy.
“If she’s willing to listen, if she’s willing to hear other sides of things, then I’m wide open to discussing it,” the billionaire entrepreneur said.
A message left with Clinton’s campaign Saturday was not immediately returned.
Cuban has previously called Trump a “friend” with whom he has a “love-hate relationship.”
“The best way to describe Donald right now — and again, I like the guy — is he’s like the guy who will walk into the bar and say anything” to go home with someone, he said earlier this month at a hedge fund professionals conference in Las Vegas.
Still, Cuban credited Trump with inspiring voters who have lost faith in the system.
“He’s tapped into the fact that people just don’t trust government anymore. Government is a mess,” Cuban said in Las Vegas.
