Miles C. Lott, 84, Troutville died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born July 27, 1931 in Big Run, he was the son of the late Irvin and Ethel (Scadden) Lott.
On June 27, 1953, he married his wife of 62 years, Allene “Joan” (Shepler) Lott. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
Mr. Lott lived most of his life in Troutville and was a graduate of the Big Run High School class of 1948.
He was a graduate of Clarion University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He retired after teaching English and history for 35 years in Spartansburg, Corry and DuBois, Pa.
He played baseball both in high school and in the Federation League in Big Run and Troutville, where he was well-known as a pitcher.
He enjoyed golfing, especially in the Beechwoods Senior League. He loved country music and was a pretty good singer. He also enjoyed being with his family.
Mr. Lott is survived by a son, Miles C. Lott Jr. and his wife, Debra of New York, NY and a daughter, Susan Wyant and her husband, Raymond of Troutville.
He is also survived by a grandson, Jason Shimmel and his wife, Dana; a granddaughter, Kaitlin Wyant and her husband, Raymond; a great-granddaughter, Aurora Shimmel; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Arthur, Bernard and William Lott and three sisters, Mary Thrush, Betty Deeter and Margaret Haag.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home Inc.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, at the Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ with Pastor Audra Krise and Pastor Barry Fillman co-officiating.
Burial will follow in the Troutville UCC Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
