CAST to Welcome Old and New Faces at Dedication

CLEARFIELD – Months of hard work and perseverance are finally paying off for some local theater supporters.

Last September, a team of dedicated volunteers and a new board of directors sought to revitalize the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre Inc. (CAST) in the heart of downtown Clearfield.  Nearly eight months later, these people are starting to see their hard work pay off.

Since September, the hometown arts center has presented three major productions, with one more currently on stage; hosted youth acting classes; started a youth show choir; offered American Sign Language classes; launched a writer’s workshop series and a reader’s theatre program; and restarted the Clearfield Choral Society.

The arts were continued through the Friday Night Live performances, an active music series, and other community events.

CAST looks forward to future activities, such as the Seeds of Art summer camp, a special needs theatre group, more classes and workshops and more performances.

As a way of celebrating all these accomplishments, and looking ahead to a bright future, CAST will host and open house and dedication May 18.

With the support of the Greater Clearfield Chamber of Commerce, there will be an “After Hours” event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

During this time, refreshments will be provided, tours of the renovated building will be given, memories will be shared and questions can be answered.

Artwork from artists Dan Mohney and Jody Grumblatt will be displayed.  Refreshments will be provided by Apple Banquets and Starr Hill Winery.

At 7 p.m., the CAST auditorium will be dedicated in memory of Fred Gearhart.  The CAST shop area will be dedicated in memory of Scott Crago.  There will be special performances by The Clearfield Choral Society, High Voltage Youth Show Choir, ThreeD, Brenda Weber, Janet Donahue and others.

Admission is free, and all are invited to attend.
