Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump jokingly took credit Wednesday for Anheuser-Busch InBev temporarily renaming Budweiser to “America” this summer.
“Do you think you had something to do with Budweiser changing the name of their beer this summer?” Trump was asked during an interview on “Fox and Friends.”
“I think so,” joked Trump, whose campaign slogan is “Make America Great Again.”
“They’re so impressed with what our country will become, they decided to do this before the fact,” he said.
The beer company is tapping into American patriotism in preparation for events such as the U.S. election and the summer Olympics, according to the BBC.
“Budweiser has always strived to embody America in a bottle, and we’re honoured to salute this great nation where our beer has been passionately brewed for the past 140 years,” said Budweiser Vice President Ricardo Marques in a statement to the BBC.
