CLEARFIELD – Bass fishing is one of the fastest growing high school sports in the nation, and it is now coming to Clearfield County.
Do you know a high school student who loves the outdoors, especially the sport of fishing? The Clearfield County High School Bass Fishing Team is looking for 16 students to compete against other high schools and students across the nation.
Students can compete for scholarships up to $10,000 towards the college of their choice. Rods and tackle will be available for the students.
How it works
It takes two students to make up a high school fishing team. The teams can be made up of two students in high school (ninth through twelfth grade) or one high school student and one middle school student (seventh and eighth grade).
Each student team will have an adult coach on the boat with them at all times. Each team will try to catch their heaviest five bass, and the team with the heaviest limit wins.
In addition to learning different fishing techniques, students will study bass behavior, fish habitat improvement and conservation.
