Annual Family Fishing Day is for All Ages

WEEDVILLE – Bennetts Valley Senior Center President Eleanor Green has announced the schedule for the Third Annual Family Fishing Day.

“If you don’t care to fish, there are plenty of other activities, including food and entertainment, for the entire family to enjoy all day,” Green added.

Last year’s Family Fishing Day drew a crowd of more than 400 people.

The family event will be held Sunday, May 29, at the Bennetts Valley Senior Center, located on Plum Street in Weedville.

Fishing begins at 12 p.m. at the Kersey Run Stream, located behind the senior center. Further, 2,000 trout will be stocked, including a tagged prize fish.

Prize-fishing ends at 5 p.m. Those who fish must observe all Pennsylvania Fish Commission regulations.

The Down County Country Boys Band will kick off the entertainment at 11 a.m. followed by the Dan and Galla Music Show, St. Marys Area High School Dance Team and Hoop Dance by Theresa from 1:15 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Heather Olson (Patsy Cline) and Scott Allegretto (Elvis) will conclude the entertainment from 4:15 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Emma Gavazzi will provide face painting all day and Bubbles the Clown, with his balloons, will roam the crowd from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Food and refreshments will start at 11:30 a.m. and will include chicken barbecue dinners, hot dogs, hot sausage, sloppy joes, brownie sundaes, funnel cakes, baked goods and refreshments.

For advance chicken barbecue tickets or more information, call the senior center at 814-787-7888.

Some seating will be available, but it is suggested to bring a lawn chair.

The event is sponsored by the Valley American Legion Post 978, Bennetts Valley Senior Center, Bennetts Valley Lions, Sinnemahoning Sportsmen’s Club and EQT.
