Ryan Seacrest signs for more ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’

“American Idol” may be over, but Ryan Seacrest is staying plenty busy.

He has signed a deal to host ABC’s “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” for four more years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Seacrest has been the face of the holiday special for more than a decade. Besides being one of America’s favorite hosts, he also has brought the world “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and its various spinoffs, courtesy of his production company.

“Ryan has been a great partner and together we have managed to set record ratings for ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,’ while continuing the tradition of the show being the place to be on New Year’s Eve in America,” Allen Shapiro, chief executive officer for Dick Clark Productions, said in a statement.

“(It’s) a perennial ratings success, and Ryan has seamlessly helmed this show for over a decade,” said Robert Mills, ABC’s senior vice president of alternative programming, specials and late night. “He is a most worthy successor to Dick’s legacy.”

Seacrest’s name is also being bandied about as a possible replacement for Michael Strahan on ABC’s “Live! With Kelly and Michael.” Seacrest and Kelly Ripa have co-hosted the Disney parade for ABC, and he’s been a guest host before on her daytime talk show.

“New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” which began in 1974, broadcasts live from New York’s Times Square. Dick Clark — the original host — died of a heart attack in 2012.
