Here’s a quick recap of what happened over the weekend.
Mass murder in Ohio. Eight members of one family, aged 16-44, were found shot to death in their beds in the little town of Piketon. The attorney general revealed Sunday that marijuana-growing operations were discovered at three of the crime scenes. So far, nobody has been arrested and no motive has been offered.
Could Koch back Clinton? Conservative megadonor Charles Koch surprised people when interviewed Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” First he said Bill Clinton was a better president for economic growth and government spending than George H.W. Bush had been. Then he was asked if another Clinton (like Hillary) could be better than a Republican nominee. “It’s possible,” Koch replied.
Farewell to Prince. The pop music superstar’s remains were cremated over the weekend and a private memorial service was held Saturday at Paisley Park, his home in Minnesota. The cause of Prince’s death Thursday is still unknown and it’ll be at least four weeks before the results of the autopsy are back.
Police kill prom shooter. In Wisconsin, Jakob Wagner, 18, opened fire with a rifle outside the Antigo High School prom, wounding two students leaving the dance. A police officer patrolling in the parking lot opened fire on the gunman, killing him. Authorities don’t know why Wagner, a former student, started shooting.
North Korea launches missile. Launching a submarine-based ballistic missile is something North Korea has not been able to do successfully — until this weekend. That created anxiety all over the world, with a U.S. official saying, “North Korea’s sub launch capability has gone from a joke to something very serious.”
Beyonce’s new album. We finally know what the singer’s mysterious “Lemonade” actually is. Using spoken word, fashion and lots of lyrics about relationships, infidelity, empowerment and love, Beyonce presented her new music Saturday night in a serious of stylized music videos.
