Obituary Notice: Carmen A. Sturniolo

Carmen A. Sturniolo, 84, of Clearfield died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at his home.

He was born Nov. 24, 1931, a son of the late Anthony and Turi (Lamendola) Sturniolo.

Mr. Sturniolo retired in 1997 from St. Francis School and Church as a maintenance worker after 19 years of employment.

He had also worked at Harbison Walker Refractory in Clearfield and Kent’s Sportswear.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the Sons of Italy No. 189 of Clearfield, the Clearfield American Legion, the Knights of Columbus Council No. 409 of Clearfield, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 812 of Clearfield, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 540 of Clearfield, the Old Town Sportsmen’s Club and the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Club.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Sturniolo served during Korean War.

He is survived by his sister, Rose Jordan of California.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (Tiracorda) Sturniolo on Aug. 9, 2008 and to whom he was wed Aug. 10, 1957 in Curwensville. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Samuel Sturniolo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Father John L. Miller as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.
