Elizabeth M. Quinn, 83, of Clearfield died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Mountain Laurel Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center.
On Dec. 18, 1932, she was born in Johnsonburg, a daughter to the late Verne L. Baker and Gertrude C. (Perry) Baker.
She graduated from the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing and later became an instructor.
She was instrumental in starting the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at the Vo-Tech, where she instructed there for many years.
She finished her career at the Clearfield Middle School as a school nurse until her retirement.
Mrs. Quinn pursued an RN-BSN degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated magna cum laude while working full-time and raising a family.
Mrs. Quinn was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Nurses Alumni Association of the Clearfield Hospital. She enjoyed reading and loved cats and flower gardening and appreciated music.
Her survivors include one daughter, Diana Quinn of Clearfield; one son, Daniel Quinn of New York; three grandchildren, Carla Shomo and her fiancé, Charles Bloom and Jessica Jeffries and her husband, James, all of Clearfield, and Tyler Quinn and his wife, Amber of Cabot, Pa.; and one great-grandchild, Tesher Quinn.
She was the last of her generation. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James Quinn and Timothy “Buckwheat” Quinn; an infant grandson, Jameson Timothy Quinn; and her husband, James R. Quinn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Stump officiating. Burial will be at Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
