LT Supers Report Resignation of Part-time Police Officer

CLEARFIELD – At the beginning of the Lawrence Township Supervisors’ meeting on Thursday, Chairman Randy Powell read from the report from Police Chief Mark Brooks.

The only item on the report was that part-time officer Tonya Marshall submitted her resignation as of April 12.  When asked by GANT News if there was any further information, Powell would only say that it was her decision to resign.

The supervisors also voted to call in the part-time seasonal workers beginning May 2 until Sept. 30 with the understanding that they will only work on an as-needed basis.

In other business, Roadmaster Ron Woodring updated the supervisors on ongoing work.  He said work has been completed on Dairy Lane, Grice Road is almost done and they are planning to start on Reed Road soon.

Woodling will call for three quotes on painting Airport Road and also asked if Coal Hill Road had ever been painted.  Supervisor Bill Lawhead said it was when it was a state road but once the township took over, the road has not been painted.

A resident asked the supervisors to look at Turner Drive where the road surface is breaking up and creating a hazard.  She also asked them to look into a Black Walnut tree where a couple of branches overhang the road and the nuts also create a hazard.

Woodling will check on the tree and see about trimming back the branches overhanging the township right-of-way.

Under the secretary’s report, the supervisors approved the route for a 5K race sponsored by the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School Key Club to benefit the Clearfield-Jefferson Suicide Prevention Team on May 21.

The route will be through the streets of Country Club.  The King of the Mountain Bike Race was also approved for Oct. 9.

The supervisors also approved advertising the Flegal Road bridge project for bids to be opened June 7.
